The Congalsa solidarity walk celebrates ten years bringing together coastline, the Camino, and social commitment in A Pobra
2026-04-05 20:15:01A Pobra do Caramiñal will once again become a meeting point next May 24 for walkers and pilgrims with a spirit of solidarity. The Congalsa solidarity walk celebrates its tenth edition, now firmly established as one of the key events in the Barbanza calendar, where every step turns into support for those who need it most.
The walk will start at 09:30 a.m. from Segundo Durán square, with the same goal that inspired its creation: to turn physical effort into a collective gesture of support for local social organizations. It is not just a walk, but an initiative that, over a decade, has woven a network of collaboration between the company, associations, and the community.
In this special edition, the route —around ten kilometers and circular— will pass through some of the most representative spots along the coastline of A Pobra. Places such as Pedra da Moura, Punta de Cabío or A Laxe beach will offer participants an experience that combines nature, heritage, and the sea, in a proposal accessible to all audiences.
The organization, in collaboration with the A Orixe association, also highlights the added value of the route: strengthening the connection between the territory and the Jacobean routes. In this sense, the walk not only appeals to solidarity, but also to the walking tradition that defines the Camino de Santiago, where each journey is a sum of shared stories.

The solidarity component is materialized directly: in addition to the registration fee, each participant must contribute at least one kilogram or one liter of non-perishable food. These are added to the kilometers covered, which Congalsa will convert into financial donations for NGOs in the Barbanza area.
Registration is now open through the Deporticket.com platform until May 21. There are two options: an individual one, for participants over 13 years old for 5 euros, and a family option, allowing one adult and up to three minors to participate for the same price. Additionally, those who wish to collaborate without attending can do so through the so-called “bib number 0”.
For Isabel Cañas, Director of External Relations at the company, reaching this tenth edition means “reinforcing a decade of social commitment to the region” and confirms the deep roots of an initiative that goes beyond sport. In a land accustomed to walking —whether for faith, tradition, or landscape—, the Congalsa walk proves that it is also possible to move forward through solidarity.
Because, as on the Camino de Santiago itself, what matters is not only the destination, but everything that is built step by step.
