The Camino through Barbanza gains ground and establishes itself among the coastal routes of the Way of St. James

The Camino de Santiago through Barbanza (A Orixe) is experiencing one of the strongest growth rates among the Jacobean routes along the Compostela coast. Up to 31 August, the route starting at Corrubedo lighthouse recorded 916 Compostelas, 59% more than in the same period in 2025, also surpassing the Muros-Noia Way by 217. In fact, in just eight months it has already welcomed more pilgrims than during the whole of last year.

The increase confirms the growing appeal of the coastal routes to Santiago, with growth also recorded on the Muros-Noia and Muxía-Fisterra routes. Among Spanish pilgrims, those from Andalusia, Madrid and Valencia predominate, while A Orixe continues to gain prominence as an alternative way to discover the heritage, landscapes and Jacobean tradition of the Galician coast.
