A group of 115 pilgrims from Huesca, belonging to the Asociación de Amigos del Camino del Reino de Aragón, is currently walking the Camino A Orixe, a route that starts in Corrubedo and ends in Santiago de Compostela. The participants, aged between 23 and 85, have been delighted by the scenery and, in particular, by the proximity of the Atlantic Ocean.

The group's spokesperson, Soledad Cerecedo, highlighted the warm welcome they received from the organising association, which provided them with information about the route and helped them arrange accommodation. She explained that they organise a seven-day pilgrimage every year and, after completing the best-known routes, decided to try this one, which has turned out to be a wonderful discovery.

The pilgrims walk between 19 and 21 kilometres each day, accompanied by two support buses. Their aim is to reach Santiago on Saturday, where they will hold a special ceremony and present a cape to both the youngest and oldest participants.

But they are not the only ones who have chosen the Camino A Orixe. This weekend, a group of 52 people from the Asociación Rural de Mulleres Emprendedoras Arume de Ferrol also began the route. The association's secretary, Esther Díaz, explained that, after spending years walking the traditional pilgrimage routes, they were looking for something different.

Among the route's main attractions are its coastal landscapes and the fact that much of the journey follows woodland and countryside trails, avoiding paved roads. According to Díaz, this is an important difference compared with other pilgrimage routes, such as the English Way.

While the pilgrims from Aragon will complete the route in one week, the group from Ferrol has chosen to walk one stage per month, aiming to reach Obradoiro Square next May.
