The AMIF VILLENA Association on the way of Saint James
2023-12-07 16:19:29It has been more than a year now, specifically from October 8 to 15, 2022, that the AMIF Group of Pilgrims (Association of People with Physical Disabilities of Villena and Comarca) formed by 14 people with disabilities and volunteers, together with members of The Association of Friends of the Camino de Santiago de Villena carries out the Camino do Barbanza "A Orixe" (The Origin).
We did six stages, from the Corrubedo Lighthouse to Santiago de Compostela, always accompanied by members of the Association of Friends of the Camino de Santiago de Barbanza "A Orixe", who "made" the Camino "A Orixe" a little more accessible for us. that users in wheelchairs and with reduced mobility could discover part of this Camino. It should be noted that throughout the stages we were able to enjoy impressive landscapes, forests where the smell of eucalyptus and the smell of saltpeter intermingled, and for a large part of the route the Ría de Arousa "accompanied us." And what to say when we entered the Dodro forest, a stage complicated by the impressive slope that we found halfway, which people in wheelchairs were able to overcome thanks to the volunteers. We passed through towns such as A Pobra Do Caramiñal, Boiro and Rianxo where we were received by the Mayors of these municipalities who praised our adventure and committed to making the Camino more inclusive. We leave you a "little piece" of our town, giving you the book "The History of Villena" by José María Soler.
Every day we did an average of 15 kilometers and with the hope of setting foot in Santiago for the second time, because we already did it in 2015 on our first Camino de Santiago. The Camino de Santiago "A Orixe" was our fourth Camino and we have to say that "A Orixe" (The Origin) has been worth it, and above all having met the members of the Barbanza Camino Association "A Orixe" We thanked them for their help and highlighted the great work they have done designing this Path.
Good way!. AMIF-Association of People with Physical Disabilities of Villena and Comarca.
