O Camiño A Orixe is consolidated by the European Youth Pilgrimage

The European youth pilgrimage that was held in Santiago de Compostela from August 1 to 7, 2022 was convened by the archdiocese of Santiago de Compostela and organized by the youth and childhood subcommittee of the Spanish Episcopal Conference.

The last time it was carried out was in 2010, it is therefore a large number of pilgrims who accompany by land the arrival of the Apostle's body brought by his disciples Teodoro and Athanasius sailing through the waters of the estuary. from Arosa and the Ulla River from Palestine.

These pilgrims, in addition to enjoying a different path where the sea is their great traveling companion, received a warm welcome from institutions and individuals willing to make their stay in the area unforgettable.

On the other hand, a group made up of forty young people belonging to the Diocese of Lucca in Italian Tuscany and accompanied by the archbishop of said Diocese Paolo Guiulleti as another pilgrim.

A total of 1,200 people made the pilgrimage in groups that are; University Communion and Liberation of Madrid, Diocese of Jerez – Andalusia, Carmelo Joven (Cádiz, Cordoba, Madrid, Castellón and Valencia), Schola Cordis IESO of Barcelona, Diocese of Oviedo and Diocese of Seville. All this has been possible thanks to the collaboration of the different municipalities through which the path runs, putting sports halls, Local Police, Civil Protection Groups and in some cases with transport at our service.
