The tenth edition of the Congalsa Solidarity Walk will once again bring together sport and solidarity on May 24 in A Pobra do Caramiñal. The initiative will allocate funds and non-perishable food to different social organizations in the region, while this year also adding direct support for the maritime sector due to the difficult situation affecting shellfishing in the area. Beneficiaries will include the local fishermen’s guild, as well as organizations such as the Red Cross, Cáritas and ICE Renovación.

The walk will follow a circular route of around ten kilometres, starting and finishing at Plaza Alcalde Segundo Durán and passing through emblematic locations such as Punta de Cabío and A Laxe beach. The event, organized with the collaboration of the Asociación Amigos do Camiño de Santiago do Barbanza e Sar A Orixe, keeps registration open until May 21 and offers individual, family and solidarity bib options.

Since its creation in 2016, the walk has brought together more than 3,000 participants and has raised nearly 50,000 euros for social projects in the region. In addition to financial contributions, participants must donate at least one kilo of non-perishable food, while Congalsa will convert the kilometres walked into further donations for the beneficiary organizations.
